Malbar Hill, Mumbai
Kamala Nehru Park, Hanging
Gardens (also known as Pheroyeshah Mehta Gardens)
and Parsi Tower of Silence are located in Malabar
Hill an expensive residential area where Mumbais
nouveau rich live. It lies on the northern promontory
of Back Bay. The temple of Walkeshwar is located
south of the promontory. This provides lovely
sunset views over the Arabian Sea. The park
was laid out in the early 1880s over Bombay's
(Mumbai) main reservoir, some say to cover the
water from the potentially contaminating activity
of the nearby Towers of Silence. Though, it
has little to offer by way of entertainment,
apart from a Old Woman's Shoe relegated to a
distant corner, the view of the city is spectacular
and eye-catching. For most Mumbaiites, Kamala
Nehru Park is to Mumbai what the Eiffel Tower
is to Paris -- a vantage point casting a proud
eye on the entire city.
