Where? Daman
165 km from Mumbai City
Why?
Massive forts, historic churches, quaint
villages, coconut groves, fine powdery
beaches, water parks- this sleepy coastal
destination which is just 190 Km from
Mumbai has more to it than drunken revelry
on littered beaches. The old world charm
is still writ all over the town and
the remnants of the Portuguese rule
are worth a visit. The churches of Daman
rank among the oldest and best preserved
Christian monuments in Asia.
How to get there?
With the opening up of the six lane
Borivali manor stretch, on the Western
Express highway, driving from Mumbai
to Daman is sheer pleasure. Barring
a small congested stretch as you approach
Vahi, you can zip through the rest of
the journey taking in the picturesque
scenery enroute.
Where to stay?
There is a place for every pocket from
the 5 star range of Rs 2000/ night (Sandy
resort) to the Rs 200/ night budget
hotels in the market area. Daman has
hordes of hotels to choose from. Check
into one of the resorts at Devka beach
where all the action is.
