The usual duty free regulations
apply for India, that is, one bottle of whiskey
and 200 cigarettes. You are allowed to bring
in all sorts of western technological wonders
but expensive items such as video cameras and
laptop computers are likely to be entered on
a Tourist Baggage Re-export form
to ensure you take them out with you when you
go.
Note that if you enter India from Nepal you
are not entitled to import anything free of
duty. Export of an object over 100 ears old
requires a permit. If in
doubt, contact the Director of Antiquities,
Archeological
Survey of India.
