Getting our laundry done is one of the simplest tasks imaginable in Mumbai, even though washing machines are in short supply. At even the smallest hotel you’ll be able to hand in our dirty clothes in the morning and have them back freshly laundered and pressed in the evening. The secret lies in the dhobis, the washer men who still accomplish this enormous task by hand.

The up market hotels do it all in-house and charge up market prices, but if our laundry is done b a dhobi, the charge is generally not more that Rs. 10 per item.
